The Miskatonic Institute of Horror Studies returns with a new semester of fantastic and frightening class offerings!
Tickets & Passes Now Available!
AUTUMN 2024 CLASSES
MISKATONIC LONDON
Branch Director: Josh Saco

For Miskatonic London’s Autumn Semester, admission to individual classes is £9 concession, £12 advance, & £15 door. A full semester pass is £45. All classes take place live at The Horse Hospital, Colonnade, Bloomsbury, London. These are not live streamed.
As the nights draw in, it’s time for another stroll down London’s cobblestones to our beloved Horse Hospital. No matter how cold, windy, or rainy, you’ll be welcomed with warmth, shown to your seat, and treated to the most intriguing tidbits about the oddities and outsider wonders of genre escapism.
This semester, we’re diving into the chilling depths of Chinese Horror, a wildly broad, yet criminally under explored subject. Xueting C. Brant-Ni joins us to launch her new book Sinophagia. In October, Mo Moshaty explores women’s trauma through some of our favorite films. November takes a slight detour into UFO spotting and the longing to believe—because don’t we all? finally we’ll close out 2024 with the hottest December ticket: Tech Noir, where we delve into the depiction of nightclubs in genre films.
I’m thrilled about each of these events, so grab your tickets or passes, and let’s get this party started!

First, a little housekeeping. PLEASE NOTE: There is no September Online class. October classes are on 10/1 and 10/29.
Due to international Daylight Savings, our 10/29 class begins at 3pm EST. All other classes start at 2pm EST.
Online classes are livestreamed over Zoom. If you have purchased a pass or ticket but cannot attend the livestream, please contact us within 24 hours of the event and we will send you a Vimeo link that will be active for 72 hours.
Spooky season is upon us once again, and nothing is scarier than heading back to school — especially for Miskatonic students. Due to the vicissitudes of life we will have a late start, with the reward of a Gruesome Twosome for October. The month begins with a history lesson from honored alumnus Peter Bebergal called “Disenchanted Monsters: The Changing Face of Horror Fandom in the 1970-80s”, which charts the transition from the monster kid of the ’50s to the gore hound of the ’80s. Then just before Halloween, we welcome director and educator Felicia Lobo, whose talk “In the Room with the Monster: An Exploration of Horror Theatre” illuminates live performance strategies for terrifying audiences. As the days grow darker in November, we will shed light on an all too obscure topic with “‘The Screams of His Poor Bride’: Daria Nicolodi’s Vengeful Screenwriting and the Erasure of Women’s Work”; here Dr. Anne Young presents her incisive analysis of the artist often dismissed as “Dario Argento’s muse” in the context of the historical devaluation of women’s work. Finally and fittingly, we will wrap up our semester with Heidi Honeycutt who has spoken to packed houses around the world on her new book I Spit on Your Celluloid: The History of Women Directing Horror Movies. Those who missed her sold-out events should snap up tickets now for this fascinating survey of female genre contributions from 1896 to the present day.
In addition to our slate of online events, please keep your eyes peeled for special in-person opportunities sprinkled throughout the semester. We hope you’ve missed us as much as we miss you, and we’re looking forward to seeing you in class!
